Week 5: What Do You Want?
It's always hard to recover from a hard week, but as I did that this week, I had time to slow down. Which gave me time to think. And in thinking, I found myself pondering more often the questions:
"Did I contribute something meaningful to the world?"
"Was/am I a good person?"
"Who do I love/who loves me?"
It was this last question that really got me. I can't always control who loves me, but I can always control who I love. And love is an action, not a feeling -- so who do I spend most of my time loving? And what kind of life will that decision lead to?
I realized that I don't spend enough time consistently loving the people I care about the most. I spend a lot of time trying to love people who might or might not want my love, and not enough time taking care of the people who mean the most to me - loyal customers, wonderful friends, and my precious family.
Going forward, I would like to consistently improve at ACTIVELY loving those who really deserve the bulk of my time and effort, the people whose hearts are most accessible to me. I should love them consciously in ways I know they would appreciate. I believe that this will serve me in business as well as in life.
